Double-digit COVID-19 cases reported Friday

We have 16 new cases of COVID-19 in the province.

All but one are in the central zone- 11 close contacts and four related to travel.

Three of the new cases, which are school-based, were reported Thursday.

Public health officials say the close contracts are within a linked group of families and do not represent wide community spread.

The other case is travel-related in the eastern zone.

We’re up to 60 active cases province-wide after 15 more recoveries; one of those active cases is in the Inverness-Victoria-Richmond community health network.

Two people are in hospital, none in intensive care.

Provincial labs processed 3,321 tests Thursday.
