Two firefighters sent to hospital following Port Hawkesbury Paper fire

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at Port Hawkesbury Paper.

Crews from at least five volunteer fire departments were called to the paper mill in Point Tupper sometime before 8 p.m. Thursday.

The fire, which was inside one of the mill’s chip silos, took several hours to get under control.

Curtis Doucet, the chief of the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department, tells The Hawk two of his members were sent to Halifax hospital with undetermined injuries sustained fighting the fire.
