Impaired driving charges laid following child’s death

RCMP say a child has died following a single vehicle collision in Antigonish Co.

Police responded to the scene of the crash in Lower South River just after noon Sunday.

RCMP say the driver, a 32-year old woman from Antigonish Co., is facing two impaired driving causing death-related charges and breach of probation.

RCMP say three people were in the vehicle when it crashed. One passenger, a three-year-old boy, died at the scene.

The South Side Harbour Road was closed for several hours while police investigated, and the investigation is ongoing.
