Inverness Co. cocaine bust suspect has case adjourned

A man arrested in relation to a drug bust in Inverness Co. is scheduled to return to court in the fall.

Police say officers seized cocaine and drug paraphernalia when they searched a home in Melville in June.

They charged Steven Leslie MacEachern, 25, with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and a breach; he was released from custody following a bail hearing three days later.

He was expected for election-and-plea in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Wednesday; instead, the hearing was adjourned until Sept. 30.

It was also adjourned in June.

MacEachern entered a guilty plea to possession of equipment to assist in the trafficking of cocaine in relation to an April 2018 bust in Sugar Camp; he was also scheduled to appear in Wellness Court in that case, but it was adjourned until a status hearing Dec. 18.

He was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking in relation to a Feb. 2012 bust in Port Hawkesbury.
