Kelloway wins Cape Breton-Canso Liberal nomination

Liberals have picked their new candidate in Cape Breton-Canso.

Mike Kelloway, a Glace Bay native, won the party’s nomination following meetings in Port Hawkesbury and Sydney Forks Thursday night.

Kelloway beat Matt Haley of Petit-de-Grat in the votes.

The race to represent the Liberals in the upcoming federal election became necessary after Rodger Cuzner, who represented Cape Breton-Canso since 2000, announced he wouldn’t re-offer in April.

Alfie MacLeod, a long-time Tory MLA, will carry the Conservative banner in the riding in October.
