Suspect in Antigonish thefts sentenced

A man from Antigonish arrested following several thefts in the town has received his sentence.

Aaron MacMillan, 21, was charged with break-and-enter, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was sentenced to one year of probation for mischief, possession of property obtained by crime and a pair of breaches in Antigonish Provincial Court Wednesday; his remaining charges were withdrawn.

Police say officers responded to a theft in progress from an unlocked vehicle on St. Mary’s St. in March.

They say the car’s owner caught the suspect.

RCMP say the same suspect is accused of a break-enter-and-theft from a house on the same street, as well as another theft from a vehicle at StFX the same night.

MacMillan was found not guilty of possession of stolen property following his arrest in relation to a Feb. 2018 car theft in Monastery.
