Lawsuit filed against EHS

EHS officials are being sued.

They’re accused of being negligent in their management, oversight and supervision of the Cheticamp paramedic base.

A woman alleges Joe Muise, her employee supervisor, used his position of authority to sexually assault her shortly after she started her paramedic work as a 21-year-old.

She alleges Muise forced her to pose for explicit photos during private meetings in his office and kept them in a locked desk drawer, often made degrading and sexually-charged comments, and sexually assaulted her in his office between 2001 and 2004.

The allegations, which have not been proven in court, are included in a lawsuit filed in Nova Scotia Supreme Court March 8.

In an email, an EHS spokesperson tells The Hawk they’re aware of this case involving a former supervisor, but are unable to comment since the matter is before the courts.
