Little Lorraine hits the big screen: A chat with Adam Baldwin and Andy Hines

Community, drug smuggling and lobster fishing all set in 1980s Cape Breton! Now that’s a movie! Little Lorraine makes it’s Nova Scotia debut this weekend! Based loosely on the drug buts of the 80s and 90s in small fishing communities in Nova Scotia, director Andy Hines has really got something special here!

The idea for the movie came from Adam Baldwin’s amazing story tune called Lighthouse in Little Lorraine (Which is near Louisburg by the way!

It’s an amazing story about desperation and the lengths people will go to provide for their family and community, with a little Nova Scotia flare and humour mixed in there! I also really liked that the film didn’t diminish or make fun of small-town living and culture, which can happen sometimes, I find, in productions. Andy Hines, who’s from Nova Scotia, made sure that wasn’t the case, which is refreshing!

I had a chat with Andy about the film and it’s original writer Adam Baldwin who wrote the song back in 2022.

Get tickets for the film at Cinaplex, for the weekend HERE
