The two local teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League are on home ice for divisional match-ups.
The Strait Pirates host the Cumberland Co. Blues at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.
The teams are at the bottom of the Sid Rowe Division early in the 2019-20 season; the Pirates (1-1-0) are fifth with two points, while the Blues (0-3-0) are winless.
The Antigonish Bulldogs host Pictou Co. Scotians at the Antigonish Arena.
The Bulldogs (2-1-0) are tied with the Miners for top spot in the division with four points, a point up on the Scotians (1-0-1), who are tied with Eskasoni for third.
Both games get underway at 7:30 p.m.
The province’s two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams are on the road.
The Cape Breton Eagles visit the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
The Eagles (4-1-0) are third in the 10-team Eastern Conference with eight points, a point behind the two teams tied for top spot, and a point ahead of fourth-place Chicoutimi; the Drakkar (2-2-1) are seventh with five points.
The Halifax Mooseheads visit the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
The Mooseheads (2-3-0), winners of back-to-back games after three straight losses to open the season, are tied with Saint John for eighth in the conference with four points, a point behind Baie-Comeau for seventh, and three points ahead of last-place Acadie-Bathurst; the Sagueneens (3-0-1) are fourth with seven points.
Both games start at 8:30 p.m.
The StFX women’s hockey team opens the 2019-20 AUS season in New Brunswick.
The X-Women visit the Mount Allison Mounties in Sackville.
Game time is 7 p.m.
The StFX football team hosts the Bishops Gaiters in their annual homecoming game.
The X-Men (1-4) are tied with Mount Allison for fourth in the five-team AUS conference with two points, two points back of the Gaiters (2-3) for third.
It’s the second and final regular season game between the teams- Bishop’s won the first 32-19 in Sherbrooke in August.
