The Cape Breton West Islanders visit the Cole Harbour Wolfpack in game five of their Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League playoff series.
The best-of-seven, first-round series is tied 2-2 after the Islanders evened things up with a 6-2 win at home Sunday afternoon.
Game time is 7:15 p.m.
The winner will have a chance to finish off their opponent when the series returns to Port Hood for game six Saturday afternoon.
The Battle of Cape Breton resumes in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.
The Cabot Highlanders host the Cape Breton Jets.
The Highlanders (11-13-4), who are winless in three straight and four of the last five, are sixth in the eight-team league with 26 points, two points behind the Admirals for fifth, and 11 points ahead of seventh-place Fundy; the last-place Jets (5-22-2) have 12 points.
It’s the sixth and final regular season game between the teams; the Highlanders have a slight 3-2 edge through the first five.
Puck drop at the Cabot Trail Arena in Cheticamp is 6:45 p.m.
The SAERC Saints will try to finish off their first-round series when they visit the Eskasoni Warriors in the Cape Breton West High School Hockey League playoffs.
The Saints won the opening game of the best-of-three, league semi-final 5-1 in Port Hawkesbury Monday night.
Game time is 7 p.m.
A SAERC win advances them to the league final against Dalbrae; an Eskasoni win sends the series back to Port Hawkesbury for a third and deciding game.
The Cape Breton Eagles return home following a six-game road trip in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
They host Pomquet’s Logan Chisholm and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
The Eagles (35-16-3), winners of four of the last five, are fourth in the 10-team Eastern Conference with 73 points, four points behind Rimouski for third, and 14 points ahead of fifth-place Charlottetown; the Titan (10-38-7) are last in the conference- and the entire 18-team league- with 27 points.
Chisholm has 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 55 games for Acadie-Bathurst in the 2019-20 regular season.
Cape Breton has won five of the first six games in the eight-game season series between the Maritimes Division opponents.
