Local students take part in WE Day celebrations

Students from the Quad Counties were in Halifax for a celebration of work they’ve done to improve their community, and the world at large.

Chuck Boudreau with the Strait Regional Centre for Education says nearly 200 students were invited to the WE Day celebration Wednesday.

He says they were treated to motivational speakers and performances.

Boudreau tells The Hawk only students who’ve done some good are invited.

“It is an invitation because you can’t actually buy tickets to WE Day- it’s all about the work that is done,” he says. “It’s specifically about students who go above and beyond, in terms of supporting their communities and doing very positive things to make positive change.”

Boudreau says some students organized food drives, sponsored children living in poverty, and promoted mental health awareness.
