Local town installing cameras after rash of vandalism

A local town is beefing up security measures.

Ron Chisholm, the mayor of the Town of Mulgrave, says they’re installing security cameras around the town.

Chisholm tells The Hawk it’s in response to a rash of vandalism over the last year.

“We had damage to a baby barn down at the duck pond, kicked the doors off, kicked holes in the wall,” he says. “We’ve had some picnic tables that were burnt.”

Chisholm says safety pilons were also dumped over an embankment, requiring public works staff to retrieve them.

He says, most recently, a shed was burned down.

“Been sitting there for many years, it was just about to be given to the town,” he says. “We got a phone call saying that it’s ashes now.”

Chisholm says any footage of vandalism the cameras capture will be passed along to the RCMP.
