MacDonald leaving StFX

The president of StFX is stepping down.

Mike Boyd, the chair of the university’s board of governors, says Kent MacDonald has decided not to renew his contract, which expires at the end of July.

Boyd says MacDonald will remain in the role until then, and a search for his replacement will start in the coming weeks.

In a letter to members of the campus community, MacDonald says it’s the right time for someone else to step forward, build on momentum, and bring innovation and fresh perspectives to the discussion.

MacDonald became StFX’s 18th president in 2014, replacing Sean Riley.
