MacLeod to seek Conservative nomination in Cape Breton-Canso

A candidate has come forward for the Conservative nomination in the riding of Cape Breton-Canso.

Alfie MacLeod, the MLA for Sydney River-Mira-Louisbourg, says he’ll seek the party’s nomination for the upcoming federal election.

MacLeod has served in Province House since 2006, and also from 1995-1998.

Adam Rodgers, a local lawyer, carried the Conservative banner in Cape Breton-Canso in the last federal election in 2015.

There will be a new MP in the riding regardless of the outcome of the fall vote; Rodger Cuzner, the long-time Liberal MP, announced he won’t be running again in April.

He has represented the riding since 2000.
