One of four men charged in an apparent case of vigilante justice in Guysborough Co. is scheduled to stand trial in the spring.
RCMP say the operator of one fishing boat deliberately rammed another boat in May 2018.
They say no one was hurt, but one boat was damaged.
Police say it stemmed from recent fishing licence changes in the area, even though no one involved was fishing illegally.
They say they responded to an assault complaint one night later; the victim was taken to hospital with injuries.
RCMP say they believe that was related to the incident the night before, and they arrested four people in total.
Terrance Chambers, 28, of Ecum Secum, who was originally released from custody but was sent back behind bars following a breach of his conditions, faces one count of assault causing bodily harm in the case; he pleaded not guilty, and had an April 1 trial date set in Antigonish Provincial Court Thursday.
Austin Stillmant Chambers, 53, of Ecum Secum pleaded not guilty to an assault causing bodily harm count in Nov. 2018; his trial got underway in July, and wrapped up in September.
The judge delivered a not guilty verdict in December.
Eric Victor Pace, 65, from Marie Joseph faces one count of dangerous operation of a motor vessel; Richard Pace, 45, from Marie Joseph has been charged with uttering threats and mischief causing danger to life.
The father and son are scheduled for election-and-plea in Antigonish Provincial Court Feb. 27; the hearing was adjourned in October.
