Mulgrave adds police support as traffic study at dangerous intersection completed

The Mayor of Mulgrave says they’ve taken a step forward combating ongoing issues at an intersection to the town.

At last night’s regular council meeting, council made Port Hawkesbury RCMP Detachment Commander David Morin aware of the situation at the Aulds Cove Big Stop intersection, where trucks are driving through the opposite passing lane to get into the gas station.

Morin said he would send a letter of support to the province.

Mayor Ralph Hadley said they’re awaiting action from the province.

“I think that will help with the RCMP too now aware of it, that will push it along a lot quicker.”

Hadley said TIR Minster and Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie MLA Lloyd Hines told him a traffic study has been completed.

Hadley said Hines told him it showed there is a problem.

“They got several options, according to what he had told me, so I think within the next month we’ll have a handle on what the problem is and how they’re going to rectify the problem.”

Hadley said they hope there are no accidents before a solution is implemented.
