N.S. author behind Heated Rivalry honoured for pushing boundaries

A best-selling Nova Scotia author is being recognized for pushing the boundaries of entertainment.

Rachel Reid received the Changemaker Award at a gala in Toronto on Thursday.

She is best known for her chart-topping book series Game Changers, which is the source material for the hit TV show Heated Rivalry.

The show follows two players from rival hockey teams who have a secret romance off the ice.

“By championing new perspectives, elevating underrepresented voices and pushing boundaries through storytelling, Reid has helped to shape a more dynamic and forward-looking entertainment landscape,” the Hollywood Reporter, who hosted the gala, said in a statement.

According to multiple reports, the second season of the show will release next year.

And Reid’s seventh book in the Game Changers series comes out in June 2027.
