Nova Scotia Health Aware of Patient Increase at Inverness Hospital

Nova Scotia Health would like to inform the public that they are aware of the increase in patients at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.

The increase in patients is said to be the result of patients taking advantage of low wait times at the Hospital. Patients came in from all over Cape Breton Island and some came from as far away as Truro.

With the recent reopening of various health care centre’s on Cape Breton Island, patients could soon be sent elsewhere for treatment easing pressure on the Inverness hospital.

Director of Integrated Rural Health Andrew Heighton from Nova Scotia health says there are plans in the works to discuss this issue with the Warden and Council members of Inverness County at their next regular meeting of council. This way Nova Scotia Health will have a better understanding of the healthcare issues faced in the county so they can work to improve healthcare in the area.
