NSCC officials announce marine industry funding for women, Indigenous learners

Officials with the Nova Scotia Community College have announced a project designed to get more women and Indigenous people access to marine industry training and careers.

College officials say women and Indigenous learners can apply to get 90 per cent of costs for eligible marine courses covered.

They say successful applicants to eligible marine programs can apply for an annual $5,000 bursary toward tuition costs of most eligible programs; Indigenous students who receive the bursary may also be eligible for an additional annual bursary of $10,500 toward living costs through the federal Oceans Protection Plan.

The announcement was made at NSCC Strait Area Campus in Port Hawkesbury Wednesday morning.
