Doreen Laura Hadley

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Doreen Laura Hadley of Hadleyville, Nova Scotia, on July 24, 2026, at the age of 80. Doreen passed away peacefully with her loving daughter by her side while under the compassionate care of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.

Doreen is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter, Karen Williams-Pelrine (John) of Grimshaw, Alberta; her four cherished grandsons, Evan, Dayne, Jaxon, and Rylan; her sister, Marie MacDonald (Sunny) of Lismore; her brother, David Hadley (Joanne) of Bridgewater; former husband, Louis Williams (Arlene) of Havre Boucher and former sister-in-law, Betty Hadley of Bridgewater.

She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Jaime Williams-Landry (Andy) of St. Peters, and by her parents, John and Florence Hadley of Hadleyville.

Nothing in Doreen’s life brought her more joy than her grandsons. She was incredibly proud of each of them and never missed an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen about their accomplishments. She loved the outdoors and was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on her favorite teams—the Montreal Canadiens, the Denver Broncos, and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Dee had a kind and gentle spirit and was always the first to offer a helping hand, even when one wasn’t requested. She had a quiet strength and a generous heart, and anyone fortunate enough to know and be loved by her knew they had a loyal protector and unwavering supporter for life.

For the past three years, Doreen resided at Highland Crest Home in Antigonish, where the staff and residents became an extension of her family. Their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care brought great comfort to Doreen and her loved ones. Her family will always be grateful for the love and dignity they showed her.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service celebrating Doreen’s life will be held in October 2026, with details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers which she hated, memorial donations in Doreen’s name may be made to Highland Crest Home in Antigonish or the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital by contacting the Funeral Home
