HATCHER, Jean Elizabeth – 86, Hatcher Rd., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in North Sydney she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Kathleen (Murray) Dolomont.

Her happy place was her cabin in Long Island. Her special joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her road trips, crafts, and gardening and playing cards. Any opportunity to be on the water was always welcome and she enjoyed her road trips and adventures with her sister Marjorie in her later years.

Surviving are her daughters, Peggy Barlett (Mike); Angela Hatcher (Blair); son, Howard (Bonnie) Hatcher; sisters, Judy Day, Marjorie Langford, Kathleen Colpitts; brother, Mike (Valeria) Dolmont; grandchildren, Alicia (Jason), Jennifer (Matthew), Robert (Fallon), Heather (Ryan), Abigail, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Aunika, Kinzleigh, Walker, Chase; sisters-in-law, Carol Dolomont, Monika Dolomont, Georgina Dowling and Elsie Apesteguy; brother-in-law, Alex Hatcher; best friend of over 60 years, Doris Carrigan.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Hatcher; brothers, Jim, Robert, Donnie (Eileen) and Tommy; brothers-in-law, George Day, John Langford and Ron Colpitts.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Palliative Care team of the Strait Richmond Hospital, Homecare workers.

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, May 2 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will follow at 2pm in St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings with Sandi Irving officiating. Burial will follow in St. David’s Cemetery, Port Hastings. Memorial donations may be made to St. David’s United Church, Strait Richmond Palliative Care or to a charity of one’s choice. Family flowers only.
