Jocelyn Ann Googoo, age 33, of We’koqma’q, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Jocelyn was born on February 2, 1993, She was the beloved daughter of Josephine Googoo and Allister Googoo of We’koqma’q. She lived her life with kindness, laughter, and a genuine love for the people around her. Jocelyn was a proud dog mom to her cherished mixed Pit Bull, Buster B, who was truly her baby. She loved travelling to the South Beaches, chasing the sun, and exploring the beauty of nature along scenic trails and lookoffs. Whether she was enjoying the outdoors or spending time with family and friends, Jocelyn embraced life with a free spirit and a grateful heart.
Fun-loving, thoughtful, and caring, Jocelyn had a special gift for seeing the good in others. She never hesitated to offer kind words, a heartfelt compliment, or a listening ear. Her laughter was contagious, filling every room with warmth, joy, and positive energy.
Jocelyn was a true friend to many people from all walks of life and from all around the globe. A social butterfly by nature, she cherished meaningful connections and made friends wherever life took her. She listened with compassion, offered wise advice, and treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She enjoyed pampering herself with beautiful nails, surrounding herself with good company, and sharing laughter with friends. Jocelyn also had a passion for baseball, both as a player and as one of the sport’s biggest supporters and cheerleaders.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Josephine Googoo (Jack) and Allister Googoo; her sisters, Daisy (Dale) Googoo, Liz Googoo of We’koqma’q, and Vanessa Googoo (Melissa Dedam) of Elsipogtog; and her brother, Aaron Googoo of We’koqma’q and sister by choice Holly Denny.
She is also survived by her beloved nieces, Carmine Googoo of Eskasoni and Carleigh Googoo of We’koqma’q; her nephews, Wendall Googoo, Tassidy, Dillion, Quinton, Marcus, Attila Augustine of Elsipogtog, and Bryson Googoo and Trenton Googoo of We’koqma’q; Sage Darragh of Sackville and her treasured godchildren, Christopher Paul, Aiden Martin, and Legend Nicholas, who held a special place in her heart.
Jocelyn will be lovingly remembered by her close friends; her godmother, Annabella Nicholas; her aunts, Lucille Bernard and Carol Marshall, all of We’koqma’q, and Sally Cope of Truro; Mary, Donna, Judy, Virginia Marshall of Membertou and Bridget (Rick) Marshall of Potlotek. her uncles, Victor (Annie) Googoo, Russell Marshall, John Marshall, Hubert (Dana)Pierro, and Alexander Bernard, all of We’koqma’q, and Herman (Christine)Pierro of Wagmatcook; James (Marie) Sylliboy of Eskasoni.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Mary and Andrew Bernard; her paternal grandparents, Annie Claire (Bruno) Isaac and Benjamin Marshall; her beloved uncle and godfather, Jeffrey Bernard; her aunts, Elizabeth Toney, Mary Helen Googoo, Harriet Nicholas, and Alice Bernard; and her uncles, Matthew Bernard, Harvey Bernard, and Noel Mike Bernard.
Jocelyn will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and lots of cousins, all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Though her time with us was far too short, the memories she created, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest peacefully in the loving company of the family and friends who journeyed before her.
Visitation will begin after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the We’koqma’q Community Centre, 15 Reservation Road, We’koqma’q First Nation. A Funeral Mass and Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Blessed St. Kateri Parish, Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We’koqma’q First Nation, with Fr. Joby Augustin officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
