It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jude Conrad Johnson of Potlotek First Nations, NS, on June 27, 2026, at the age of 38.
Born on October 16, 1987, in Sydney, NS, he was the favourite child of Sandra Basque-Johnson, and Kevin Johnson.
Jude is survived by his siblings, DJ Basque (Sarah), Tracie Johnson, and Erin Cotie (Justin); his beloved daughter, Audrina MacDonald, whom he loved with all his heart. He was deeply proud of the strong, caring, and determined young woman she was growing into; his nephews Braylon MacDonald and Caleb Basque; and his niece Serenity Johnson (Jason); godparents Anita Basque and Flloyd Marshall.
He was predeceased by parents, Sandra Basque-Johnson and Kevin Johnson including his brother-in-law Emi, his favorites, Brandon MacDonald (Tracie); and his brother Evan Dennis.
Jude had a deep love for music, and whenever he was listening, it was guaranteed to be loud. His favourites included Eminem, Easy-E, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and he took great pride in his extensive CD collection. He was a long-time gamer and especially enjoyed playing GTA on his Play Station.
He had an undeniable love for animals, with cats being his absolute favourite. None captured his heart quite like his cherished cat, Frickles. Frickles, whom he lovingly called his “son”, meant the world to him.
Jude expressed himself through his sense of style. He was rarely seen without one of his favourite hats or a piece of jewellery that he completed his signature look.
Cooking was one of Jude’s passions. Long before Tracie began her culinary career-and back when she was better at eating KD than cooking it-it was Jude who was in the kitchen. He happily fed not only Tracie but also her group of teenage friends.
In 2017, Jude moved to Halifax to pursue Plumbing at Nova Scotia Community College, Though the path was not always easy, he remained determined and proudly earned his Plumbing diploma from NSCC in 2019.
He leaves behind cherished cousins Crystal, CJ, Hannah, Noah, and Sean, who were more like siblings and held a special place in his heart. He also shared a close bond with his bros Corey, Bryan, and John Gerard, as well as his late friends Shawn and Ray, all of whom were like family to him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30th at 11 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Barra Head, Nova Scotia with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. A Salite will be held at the Potolek Community Hall, Potlotek following the service.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., in Arichat.
