With great sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Ronnie surrounded by love on St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, NS. Ronnie was the oldest son of Albert Joseph and Mary (Olive Rebecca LeForte) of L’Ardoise, NS.
Ronnie was a hard worker. He worked for Edmonds Bros., Halifax, NS as a landscape foreman. He attended University College of Cape Breton, graduating as a Marine Electronic Technician. Ronnie worked at Michelin Canada, Granton, NS for 29 years until retirement. He worked lobster fishing aboard the Fishing and Wishing with his brother, Russ for 5 years until final retirement.
Ronnie loved living in L’Ardoise next to the ocean and surrounded by forest. He truly enjoyed the outdoors and all the wildlife it offered. He was an avid hunter and fisher. Ronnie exemplified the phrase, “Giver of Himself” by always putting his family first.
He leaves behind his pockets of love, laughter, and great stories. Left to mourn are his wife of 50 years, Donna (MacLellan); son Ryan; grandsons, Gavin and Kieran; brothers, Russ (Cathy), Rockdale; Junior (Donna), Cheticamp; Stanley (Charlene), Lower Sackville; Michael, L’Ardoise. He is survived by his much-loved nieces, Tara, Jade, Courtney, Carley, Keely, Kim, Alysha; nephews, Sloan, Chad and Nathan; Godson, Jason Pottie; Goddaughter, Jade Benjamin; aunts, Lena Gerrior, Halifax and Elizabeth Chaisson, Toronto, ON; special cousins, Billy (Marie) Burkey, L’Ardoise; and the mother of his grandchildren, Candace Berthier, Arichat.
He was predeceased by his parents, his special angel niece, Brittany Berthier; parent-in-law, John Neil and Jeanette MacLellan; sister-in-law, Maureen Myers; along with many aunts and uncles.
There will be no wake or funeral as per Ronnie’s request. Family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Charitable donations may be made to W.B. Kingston Memorial Health Clinic, L’Ardoise, or St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Martha’s Hospital. You made us better people with all the care and kindness shown to us. Thanks to Green’s Funeral Home for guiding us during this difficult time.
May his loved ones find comfort in the consoling thought that when this life’s short day is over, they will be reunited with him in the heavenly home where pain and death are unknown and sorrows are no more. Rest in Peace, Love. We will see you later.
