Laurier Archibald ‘Edward’ Borden

Sunnyville, Guys. Co.

Laurier Archibald “Edward, Ed” Borden, 65, of Sunnyville, Guysborough County, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney

Born in Guysborough on May 17, 1960, he was a son of the late Laurier and Gertrude (Mintis) Borden.

Ed spent most of his life working as a pulpwood cutter, a role that reflected his strong work ethic and resilience. He was known for his kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, even while facing his own health challenges.

He had a deep love for the game of darts and was a dedicated and competitive player. Many of his happiest moments were spent playing with friends in his building, where he formed lasting friendships and shared plenty of laughter. Ed shared a special bond with his sister, Edith. They looked out for one another, and it was a rare day that went by without Ed stopping in to visit her. Their connection was a constant and meaningful part of his life.

He is survived by his son, Dylan (Michelle), Halifax; his daughter, Faith, Halifax; his sister, Edith (James), Sunnyville; his nephews, Leroy (Sabrina), Antigonish, and Matthew (Crystal), New Glasgow; as well as his niece, Myra, and nephews, Carter and Jordan, all of whom will cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by five siblings who were tragically lost in a house fire in 1960.

Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Rest easy, Ed. You are now in the arms of God, and your memory will live on forever.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 54 Queen Street, Guysborough. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, in Wesley United Church, 22 Queen Street, Guysborough with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
