The Strait Pirates have signed a goalie for the upcoming Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season.
Cody Smith will join the Pirates for the 2018-19 campaign.
Team officials acquired the Glace Bay native from the Miners as part of the deal for Levi Denny at last season’s trade deadline.
Smith is a former member of the Cape Breton Tradesmen; he played eight games with the Summerside Western Capitals in the Maritime Hockey League last season.
He returned home to finish his grade 12 year at Glace Bay High; he was a top goaltender in the Cape Breton High School Hockey League.
