Port Hawkesbury officials decide to leave REN

Councillors in the Town of Port Hawkesbury have voted to leave the Eastern Strait Regional Enterprise Network.

Town officials submitted their one-year notice of intent to withdraw from the REN in March 2018; they voted to follow through with that decision at a special council meeting Wednesday night.

They’ll formally leave the REN March 31.

Councillors also voted to apply for membership with the Cape Breton Regional Enterprise Network at their current budgeted amount.

Guysborough councillors made the same decision to leave the Eastern Strait REN Feb. 20.
