Positive COVID-19 case at StFX

There has been a positive COVID-19 case identified at Saint Francis Xavier University.

Andy Hakin, President of the Antigonish university, released a statement late Tuesday.

He says Public Health informed the StFX administration of a positive result on campus earlier in the day.

Hakin says the student arrived on campus Jan. 3 and has been isolating in residence since.

He says the student chose to be tested and received a positive result.

Hakin says the student continues to isolate on campus under the university’s pandemic plan.

He says any contact tracing will be conducted by Public Health, and anyone considered a close contact will be directly approached by Public Health officials.

Hakin says the university will follow Public Health directions around any required potential exposure notifications.
