Province funds Cape Breton-filmed reality show

Nova Scotia Business Inc. has put up over $30,000 for a reality show filmed right here in Cape Breton.

The second season of APTN’s Merchants of the Wild follows six Indigenous people as they travel the traditional trade routes of historical Unama’ki, modern day Cape Breton.

The participants spend 25 days living off the land while travelling by foot and canoe; retracing the steps of early traders.

The series features elders from Potlotek, Eskasoni, and Waycobah, and much of the content features the Mi’kmaq language.

The production spent over $120,000 in the province.
