A number of local volunteer fire departments have received provincial funding to buy safety equipment.
Provincial officials say the $1.4 million investment comes from the Emergency Services Provider Fund.
Local volunteer fire departments receiving funding include Antigonish Town, Antigonish Co., Guysborough, Judique, Mulgrave, Port Hawkesbury, Port Hood, Mabou and We’koqma’q; you can find a link to a complete list here.
The majority of the grants are for $20,000, the maximum amount available through the program.
