Hold-and-secure leads to assault charges

RCMP say two teens have been arrested following an altercation at a local school.

They say officers were called to Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High in Antigonish at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say one person suffered minor injuries when they assaulted by two others.

They say a 14-year-old and 17-year-old face charges of assault.

The boys, who were released on conditions to have no contact with the victim, are expected in Antigonish Provincial Court in Feb. 5.

RCMP won’t confirm if a weapon was involved in the altercation.

In a letter sent to parents and guardians, school officials say a hold-and-secure was in place for roughly 15 minutes during the altercation.
