Warden says councillors eager to sit down with Fraser, Kelloway

The warden of Antigonish Co. says he’s excited to meet the municipality’s new MP.

There are two federal ridings within Antigonish Co.- Liberal Mike Kelloway was elected in Cape Breton-Canso in October’s federal election, while Liberal Sean Fraser held his Central Nova seat.

After November’s regular meeting, Owen McCarron, the warden of the municipality, said councillors are eager to sit down with both.

“We look forward to continuing the good working relationship we have with Sean, and establishing a new working relationship with Mike.”

McCarron said Kelloway is planning to attend an upcoming meeting to introduce himself.

“He’s going to come out to a council meeting, we understand,” he said. “We’re looking forward for council to meet with him, and looking forward to government getting back to work, so we can advance some projects that we have on our radar.”

Kelloway replaces long-time MP Rodger Cuzner, who represented the area for 19 years, but didn’t re-offer in October’s election.
