SAT getting a boost from Port Hawkesbury

Port Hawkesbury Town Council is giving more support to Strait Area Transit.

At Monday’s regular council meeting, council approved $2100 dollars in funding for the group.

Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton said it’s to help modernize the service and improve controls.

“That contribution would be going towards a one time spend on GPS technology for the fleet,” she said. “Updates and improvements to the Strait Area Transit website as well as uniforms for Strait Area Transit staff.”

Chisholm-Beaton said the money is in addition to free office and garage space Port Hawkesbury donates every year.
