Dwight Austin Isadore has had his case adjourned.
Isadore, 21, of Wagmatcook, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Cassidy Bernard.
Bernard, a 22-year-old mother of infant twins, was found dead in a We’koqma’q home in Oct. 2018; her daughters, his children, were found by her side.
RCMP announced charges against Isadore in December; he’s been in custody since his arrest.
His preliminary inquiry wrapped up in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court in September; the judge in the case determined there was enough evidence to send the matter to trial by judge and jury.
Isadore appeared by video conference in Port Hawkesbury Supreme Court Friday Nov. 13 for a hearing to set his trial dates.
“I still don’t understand why you’re still trying to charge me with this stuff,” he said. “When I left my woman, she was alive.”
An eight-week block has been reserved for Isadore’s judge and jury trial. It is set to run from Jan. 17, 2022, to Mar. 11, 2022.
He had another court date Tuesday, the case was adjourned.
Isadore is scheduled for his next pre-trial conference on February 5, 2021.
