Teens expected back in court after Antigonish school altercation

Two teens arrested in relation to a hold-and-secure at a local school are scheduled to return to court Wednesday.

RCMP say officers were called to Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High in Antigonish in November.

They say one person suffered minor injuries when they were assaulted by two others.

A 17-year-old and 14-year-old face charges of assault; the 17-year-old also faces a breach charge.

The boys, who were released on conditions to have no contact with the victim, are expected for election-and-plea in Antigonish Youth Court at 1:30 p.m.; their case opened with an arraignment hearing Feb. 5.

In a letter, school officials told parents and guardians a hold-and-secure was in place for roughly 15 minutes during the altercation.
