Traffic changes coming to Reeves Street, affecting three intersections

If the Granville Street Bridge, Embree Island and MacMaster Road are part of your regular route through Port Hawkesbury, you’ll want to pay attention to some changes at the intersection.

The Town of Port Hawkesbury has announced traffic changes in conjunction with the NS Department of Public Works.

The revised traffic configuration will include:

  • Closure of the east end of Embree Island Road at Reeves Street;
  • East end of Embree Island Road will be converted to a turning area;
  • A dedicated right-turn lane from Reeves Street onto Granville Street via the Granville Street South Bridge;
  • Closure of the existing right-turn slip lane from Reeves Street to Granville Street via the Granville Street North Bridge; and
  • Dedicated turning lanes for NSCC, Embree Island Road and MacMaster Road.

The changes are intended to address traffic movement and safety in the area, so drivers should use caution and be prepared for a different traffic pattern than they may be accustomed to.

Work is expected to be completed by late fall.

The Town is encouraging motorists to exercise patience as everyone becomes accustomed to the changes.
