Warden says doctor recruitment efforts are ongoing

Guysborough’s warden says doctor recruitment is an ongoing effort in the municipality.

Vernon Pitts says they’re entertaining a potential new doctor for the area Thursday.

After Wednesday’s monthly council meeting, Pitts told The Hawk it’s not a specific recruitment campaign- they’re just being proactive.

“You can never have enough doctors- we have a number now, but none of us are getting any younger,” he said. “A potential burnout is not a good thing to look forward to and if we can sure that up by getting another doctor, it certainly lessens the load on everyone.”

Pitts said the day includes a tour of various facilities in the municipality to show they have a lot to offer, and it’s a great place to live.
