Water meter upgrades underway for Inverness Co.

Homes and businesses in communities on Inverness Co. water systems are having their meters upgraded or replaced.

The Municipality of the County of Inverness’s CAO says the work is already underway to replace the aging meters with new radio-read meters.

Keith MacDonald tells The Hawk it’s an important project to the municipality.

“It was a priority, we had number of residents requesting new meters, repaired meters, over the last number of years,” he says. “Meters have not been replaced in some time. The goal here is that we will have a thorough water meter replacement program.”

MacDonald says they expect the work to be done by the fall and to cost about $750,000.
