X-Men in Halifax for must-win game five

It’s do-or-die for the StFX men’s hockey team Friday night.

The X-Men visit the Saint Mary’s Huskies in the fifth and deciding game of their AUS semi-final.

Saint Mary’s won the first two games in the best-of-five series in Halifax; StFX stayed alive with a pair of home wins in games three and four.

Brad Peddle, the X-Men’s head coach, tells The Hawk a key will be getting pucks deep and protecting the middle of the ice.

“One thing, I think, we can just make sure we continue to get pucks behind their defence,” he says. “There were times they came back the other way with it- they’re a dangerous team, so we’ve just got to make sure we’re getting pucks by them.”

Game time is 7 p.m.

The winner advances to face UNB in the best-of-three conference final, and clinches a spot in the 2019 University Cup in Lethbridge, Alberta March 14-17.
