Inverness Co. warden welcomes Port Hawkesbury to Cape Breton REN

The warden of Inverness County says she welcomes her counterparts in Port Hawkesbury joining the Cape Breton Regional Enterprise Network.

Port Hawkesbury officials submitted their one-year notice of intent to withdraw from the Eastern Strait REN last March and they voted to follow through with that decision last month.

Councillors also voted to apply for membership with the Cape Breton REN.

Inverness County warden Betty Ann MacQuarrie tells The Hawk she’s pleased with the work of REN officials and adding Port Hawkesbury only helps make them stronger.

“They’re working with small business and large business and I think it’s going to help the economy a great deal.”

The Cape Breton REN also includes Richmond and Victoria counties.
