How Clean is your Coffee Maker?

We bought a new coffee maker about a year ago. After a certain number of brews, the display tells us to clean it. We unplug it….not to clean it but to reset it so it stops flashing the word CLEAN over and over. (obviously, we’re filthy animals)

That will change because I now know that the coffee machine could be one of the dirtiest parts of your kitchen if not cleaned often.

Bacteria, yeast, and mold could be growing in your machine because of irregular cleaning. The water reservoir is the biggest issue.

The good news is that they are pretty easy to clean & you don’t need any special cleaners (but you can buy Coffee Machine cleaners if you want, they’re called Descalers)

The easiest method to clean a coffee maker is to fill the water reservoir with 1 part white distilled vinegar and 1 part water.

If you have a reusable filter, make sure that is in the basket then just hit brew and let it make a pot of delicious hot water and vinegar. To be safe, I would probably run another cycle or 2 of just water to give it a good rinse.

And tada, you have a clean coffee maker and are officially an adult!
