Heather Joan MacLean

Heather Joan MacLean of Roberta, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the Strait Richmond Hospital.

Heather was born to Neil and Katherine (MacKay) MacLean, Jan 10, 1954 in Sudbury, Ontario. With both parents originally from Cape Breton, the family spent many summers back home where Heather enjoyed connecting with her many cousins. Heather moved back to Cape Breton as a teenager after her father Neil’s passing and later became a beloved stepdaughter to Jan Easthouse. She is survived by brothers Keith MacLean, Sault Ste Marie Ontario and Kari Easthouse (Nadine), Roberta Nova Scotia, as well as nieces Leslie Maclean-Galka, Sidney Easthouse, and nephew Jake Easthouse.

Heather found her true passion in nursing and touched the lives of many patients in both Halifax and Cape Breton. As an RN, Heather worked at the Victoria General and Strait Richmond Hospitals, ending her career as Director of Care at Richmond Villa in St Peters. She was particularly fond of seniors, and showed tremendous care, compassion and respect for them. She will be fondly remembered by many whom she was able to help in a time of need.

Heather was a member of the West Bay United Church and a talented organist who played in the choir for many years. Heather appreciated being able to spend her final years quietly at home in Roberta. She enjoyed reading, watching farm life and family visits. Her greatest joy in those years was watching her niece and nephew grow and sharing in their successes.

Donations in Heather’s memory may be made to the West Bay Pastoral Charge at PO Box 60 Manse Road West Bay, NS B0E 2Y0 or the charity of your choice.

There will be no visitation with a private family only burial will be held at a later date.
