Classified leads this year’s East Coast Music Award nominees with Nova Scotia artists nominated 106 times.
The nominees were unveiled in Charlottetown Monday morning.
Classified has seven nominations while a number of Quad County artists are in the mix.
Mabou’s Heather and Jimmy Rankin have five nominations between them.
Heather is nominated for Entertainer of the Year…Solo Recording and Folk Recording of the Year.
Jimmy is up for Contemporary Roots Recording and Video for Been Away.
Other Inverness County nominees include The Town Heroes for Songwriter and Group Recording of the Year.
The Gaelic Artist of the Year category includes Dara Smith-MacDonald & Adam Young…Kyle MacDonald and NicNeil.
While Andrea Beaton of Beaton-Plasse is up for Instrumental and Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year.
Gunning & Cormier’s record, Two is nominated in the Folk Recording category.
The Stanfields’ Limboland is up for Rock Recording.
There are two local nominations for Live Sound Engineer…Devin Farrell of Port Hawkesbury’s Sound Source Pro Audio and Mabou’s Stephen “Snickers” Smith.
Celtic Colours International Festival, in it’s 23 season is up for Event of the Year
The East Coast Music Awards will be held in Charlottetown May 1 to 5th.
