Warden says snow removal budget is in good shape

The warden of Antigonish Co. says municipal officials are on track with their winter maintenance budget.

Owen McCarron says they’re pretty much where they expected to be at this point in the season, based on previous years.

After February’s regular municipal council meeting Monday night, McCarron said they’re actually a bit ahead right now.

“We’re probably a little under budget on road clearing, so that’s a good thing,” he said. “Of course, you never know with Mother Nature what kind of curve she can throw at you, but we’re certainly in good shape at this point.”

McCarron said it’s been a pretty good winter so far, and they’re pleased with where they stand.
